Documentary and Photography Contest of the Great Spanish Eclipse 2026

Your View of the Sky, Your Eclipse Story

On 12 August 2026, Spain will experience a unique astronomical event: the Great Spanish Solar Eclipse 2026.

After years of anticipation and preparation through the Eclipse262728 project, the time has come to experience it together—and to preserve the memory of this once-in-a-lifetime event.

To celebrate this historic occasion, we are launching a new edition of the Eclipse262728 Contest, featuring two categories open to everyone who loves the sky, photography, filmmaking, and shared experiences.

1. Photography Contest: “The Great Spanish Eclipse”

We invite you to capture your vision of the 2026 solar eclipse: the sky, the changing light, the shadows, and the human atmosphere surrounding the event.

We want to see how Spain experienced the eclipse, from breathtaking landscapes to celebrations, public activities, gatherings, and unforgettable moments.

Requirements

• Format: Landscape or portrait.
• Submission deadline: 20 August 2026.
• Submission: Send your photograph by email to info@eclipse262728.es.
• Eligibility: Photographs must be original works created by the participant.

How to Participate

1. Follow @eclipse262728, @fundacionstarlight, and @turismodeestrellas_oficial on Instagram.
2. Publish your photo on Instagram and mention @eclipse262728.
3. Email your image (between 2,000 and 3,000 pixels on its longest side) to info@eclipse262728.es, including:
   
   • Author’s full name
   • Location where the photograph was taken
   • A brief description or information about the photograph

Conditions

1. Each participant may submit one photograph only.
2. Photographs must have been taken exclusively on 12 August 2026, showing different phases of the eclipse, the atmosphere, or other aspects of the phenomenon.
3. Entries must be submitted before 23:59 (CEST) on 20 August 2026.
4. Image editing is permitted provided that the authenticity and originality of the photograph are preserved.
5. Participation is open to everyone.
6. Photographs may be taken anywhere within Spain.

2. Video Contest: “My Eclipse Experience”

We want to collect the human stories behind this extraordinary phenomenon.

Record a video of up to 3 minutes sharing your experience: your preparations, emotions, surroundings, eclipse festival celebrations, or the reactions of people and nature.

Requirements

• Format: Landscape or portrait.
• Maximum duration: 3 minutes.
• Submission deadline: 15 September 2026.
• Submission: Upload your video to WeTransfer and email the download link to info@eclipse262728.es.
• Eligibility: Videos must be original works created by the participant.

Conditions

1. Each participant may submit one video only.
2. Videos must have been recorded exclusively on 12 August 2026.
3. Entries must be submitted before 23:59 (CEST) on 15 September 2026.
4. Video editing is permitted provided that the originality of the work is maintained.
5. Participation is open to everyone.
6. Videos may be recorded anywhere within Spain.

How to Participate

A Collective Documentary

From the works received, we will select excerpts to create a collective documentary about the Great Spanish Eclipse 2026—a shared audiovisual record of the event and its impact on society.

The authors of the selected works will be credited in the final documentary.

By submitting your work, you grant the organizers permission to use it in the production of this documentary.

Data Protection and Authorization for the Use of Submitted Works

By participating in the competition, the participant agrees that the personal data provided may be collected and processed by the organizers solely for the purpose of managing, organizing, and communicating information related to the photography and documentary competition of the Great Spanish Eclipse 2026.

By submitting a photograph or video, the participant also declares that the work is original and created by them, and that they hold all necessary rights and permissions required to enter the work into the competition.

Participation in the competition also constitutes authorization for the organizers to publish the participant’s name together with their submitted work on social media, websites, and other communication channels related to the competition and the Eclipse262728 project.

Furthermore, by submitting their work, the participant authorizes the organizers to use, reproduce, edit, and incorporate excerpts of the submitted works selected for inclusion in the collective documentary about the Great Spanish Eclipse 2026, as well as to promote and share the documentary through channels related to the project.

The names of the authors whose works are included in the documentary will be properly credited.

Participation in the competition constitutes acceptance of these terms.
