Photo Contest: “Eclipse Sunset”4th Edition – August 2025

The Great Spanish Eclipse 2026 will occur on August 12, 2026, just before sunset. This phenomenon is a rare opportunity to witness a total solar eclipse on the Iberian Peninsula after more than a century. Finding suitable locations with clear horizons is essential to fully experience totality.

To celebrate the final Pre-Birthday of the Great Spanish Eclipse 2026, we’re launching the 4th Edition of the Sunset Photo Contest — a chance to capture the magic of the sunset on key eclipse days and identify the best observation spots.

How to participate

1. Follow @eclipse262728 on Instagram.
2. Post your photo on your Instagram profile, tagging:
   • @eclipse262728
   • @fundacionstarlight
3. Send your photo by email to info@eclipse262728.es, including:
   • The photograph (resolution between 2000 and 3000 pixels)
   • Photographer’s name
   • Date the photo was taken
   • Exact location and GPS coordinates
   • Technical or artistic information about the photo
   • Your personal details and contact phone number

Participation rules

1. Each participant may submit only one photo.
2. Photos must be taken on August 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, or 14, 2025, capturing the sunset or the moments just before.
3. The image must be submitted before 11:59 PM on August 17, 2025.
4. Image editing is allowed, as long as the originality is preserved.
5. Open to anyone interested, with no age limit.
6. Photos must be taken within the path of totality of the Great Spanish Eclipse 2026. You can check the map here:

Eye safety

Never look directly at the sun without proper protection.
Always use certified solar filters for solar observation or photography. Protecting your eyes and equipment is essential. We strongly recommend not pointing your camera at the sun without specific solar filters designed for astrophotography.
