ABOUT ECLIPSE
About Eclipse262728
Eclipse262728 is a pioneering project that since 2016, under the support of the International Astronomical Union (IAU), has been working on promoting solar eclipses as a unique opportunity for sustainable tourism.
Based on academic studies and with the experience gained in previous events, the Eclipse262728 team has traveled the world, experiencing different eclipses, with the aim of creating a positive impact on local communities
Photo Contest: “Eclipse Sunset”4th Edition – August 2025
The Great Spanish Eclipse 2026 will occur on August 12, 2026, just before sunset. This phenomenon is a rare opportunity
Three consecutive years of chasing eclipses in Spain
In 2026, 2027 and 2028, the paths of three solar eclipses will cross over Spain. The eclipses of 2026 and 2027 will be total and that of 2028 will be annular. Those are the first total solar eclipses to occur over mainland Europe in the 21st century and the Iberian Peninsula will be experiencing its first total solar eclipse after more than a century. Undoubtedly, Spain will become the epicenter of one of the most fascinating natural phenomena and will be the top destination in the whole world to observe the total solar eclipse of 2026 according to the path of totality.
These are the first total solar eclipses in continental Europe in the 21st century and represent a unique opportunity to witness these celestial spectacles in a short period of time.

ECLIPSES 2026
On August 12, 2026, the Iberian Peninsula will experience its first total solar eclipse in over a century, making Spain a prime destination for observers from around the world.
ECLIPSES 2027
On August 2, 2027, another total solar eclipse will pass along the southern coast of Spain, lasting over 4 minutes and offering an exceptional experience in one of the world's most iconic locations.
ECLIPSES 2028
On January 26, 2028, Spain will witness an annular solar eclipse, known as the "ring of fire," visible across much of the country just before sunset.
Total Cosmic Amazement
Why shouldn't we miss the totality?
Totality is one of the most amazing and rare events we can witness in nature. The experience of being within the path of totality is unique, due to the visual magnitude of the event and the sensations it provokes. Although total solar eclipses occur almost every year somewhere in the world, the possibility of one happening near us is extremely rare. On average, a specific place will only witness a total eclipse once every four centuries.
During totality, the sun will be completely covered by the moon, letting its corona visible, a spectacle that can only be enjoyed without solar filters in those few minutes. The temperature drops, animals change their behavior and the sky transforms, allowing us to see some stars and planets in broad daylight. It is a moment that connects with something deep, both on a personal and collective level, awakening wonder and admiration for the mysteries of the cosmos.

Our services
Eclipse262728 offers extensive services to various entities, including cultural centers, city halls, county councils, private companies, schools, and universities. Our technical support ensures high levels of organization and coordination among different entities participating in the eclipse festival, an international mega event. As the representative of Spain in the International Astronomical Union (IAU) for the eclipse festival, we provide the following services:
Observing a solar eclipse is an extraordinary experience, and doing so safely is critical to protect your vision.
It is never safe to view any phase of a solar eclipse without special solar filters. B. Ralph Chou, an eclipse observer and eye safety expert, states that the only safe time to view the Sun directly is during the totality phase of a total solar eclipse. Even 1% of the Sun's light can cause retinal injury. Viewing the Sun through optical devices without proper filters can result in instant eye injury. Filters must meet ISO 12312-2 standards to ensure safety. Never use eclipse glasses with cameras, telescopes, or binoculars.
- At our company, we care about your safety. That's why our eclipse glasses comply with the ISO 12312-2 standard, ensuring safe observation during all phases of the eclipse.
Reviews for Eclipse262728
Eclipse of Spain and president of Aster, Agrupació Astronòmica de Barcelona
Solar eclipses are, without a doubt, one of the most spectacular and beautiful events that can be observed in Nature. In the coming years 2026, 2027 and 2028 we will be able to enjoy their observation in the Iberian Peninsula. The eclipse262728 project is making a great contribution to the dissemination of these events and of Astronomy in general, while helping to boost tourism in the areas where they can be observed
"I have loved training and collaborating with eclipse262728. The Eclipse of Mexico 2024 is already an unforgettable memory for me. The best point to be featured is that it was a mix of great work and good humor."
During the Mexico 2024 eclipse tour, we felt safe at all times and we appreciate the careful organization that Eclipse262728 made, so that we only had to worry about enjoying the visits that had been scheduled for us at all times and the observation site that, in addition to being perfect astronomically speaking, was a jewel of nature. All of us who shared the experience agreed that it was unforgettable and that our organizer did an extraordinary job. Logically, this experience creates a special bond in the group. We can assure you that everyone should witness it at least once in their life.
FAQs
A solar eclipse occurs when the Moon comes between the Earth and the Sun, partially or completely blocking sunlight and casting a shadow on the Earth. This can cause the day to temporarily darken in areas where the Moon's shadow falls.
Solar eclipses occur between 2 and 5 times a year in different parts of the world. However, total solar eclipses are much rarer, and their visibility depends on the location.
No, looking directly at the Sun without proper protection can cause severe damage to the retina. The only exception is during the brief period of totality in a total solar eclipse, when you can look without protection.
To safely observe a solar eclipse, use special glasses that comply with ISO 12312-2, or use indirect projection methods such as a pinhole box. Never use ordinary sunglasses or inappropriate filters.
During a total solar eclipse, the Moon completely covers the Sun, darkening the sky in broad daylight and causing a temporary drop in temperature. It is a unique moment when the Sun's outer atmosphere, known as the corona, can be observed.
The path of totality is the strip of the Earth where a total solar eclipse can be observed. Outside this strip, only a partial eclipse can be seen. To fully experience a total eclipse, you need to be within this strip.
